We were contacted by the Stanley Hotel when they discovered water leakage resulting from damage to their roof. Upon a closer inspection we found a leak in the elevator shaft, and that they were in need of woodshake shingle replacement and painting to match. A Brief History of the Stanley Hotel
The Stanley Hotel first opened in 1909. Built by husband and wife Freelan Oscar and Flora Stanley, the hotel was intended to be a luxurious getaway in the beautiful Estes Valley. Freelan first visited the area in 1903 suffering from the symptoms of consumption. After just one season in the valley, his health began to restore. He vowed at that time to return every summer. Accustom to the luxuries of the metropolitan life on the East Coast, Freelan and Flora decided to open a hotel that would introduce sophistication to the Estes Valley.
Today the beautiful hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a member of the Historic Hotels of America. The inspiration for Author Stephen King’s The Shining, the hotel is famous for not only its grandeur but its folklore. The property has undergone several renovations to restore it to its former glory. Just an hour outside of Denver, the Stanley Hotel is a favorite destination for Coloradans and tourists alike.
